1 · What kind of course?
Please select which type of course you want to build. This sets the Student Learning Time (SLT) rule.
How the SLT rule works
Total SLT = credit × 40 hours (e.g. 3 credits = 120 hours), spread over 14 weeks.
Undergraduate: contact and independent learning are balanced (1 : 1); teaching & learning takes 70% of SLT and assessment 30%.
Postgraduate: a larger share of time goes to assessment, with contact and independent learning in a 3 : 2 ratio (less independent-learning time than undergraduate, but more assessment).

Postgraduate

2 · How many credits?
One credit equals 40 notional SLT hours. The system splits this into teaching, independent learning, and assessment using the rule for your course level.
Tick this only if the course is Industrial Training, Clinical Placement, or Practicum. When ticked, the credit is calculated on 50% Effective Learning Time — the Student Learning Time hours stay the same, but the credit divisor becomes 80 instead of 40.
3 · Course Learning Outcomes
Add each CLO, its Bloom taxonomy level, and the programme outcome (PLO) it primarily supports. These become the choices for assessments and topics.
4 · Assessments & SLT
Add each assessment with its CLO, weight, dominant type, and mode of execution. Hours are computed from the MQA SLT rules, then normalised to the assessment budget. Weights must total 100%.

5 · Topics, weeks & delivery
Course runs over 14 weeks at — contact h/week. For each topic set the weeks it spans, tick its CLOs, then enter contact hours across F2F Physical (L/T/P/O), F2F Synchronous (L/T/P/O) and Asynchronous (O). Independent Learning is per-topic — click Suggest IL to auto-fill from the level ratio, then adjust.
6 · CLO Mapping (Items 8 & 9)
Map each CLO to Programme Learning Outcomes and MQF clusters. Teaching & Assessment methods are filled automatically from your topics and assessments.
7 · Assessment Summary
